UPDATES & IMPORTANT NOTESIf you want to scout your refuge area, Please contact Ranger Georgie Garcia for scheduling access. I encourage all to review the TEXAS STANDARDS It will Answer many questions and save us from having to seek corrections after the fact. I will be sending out some TIPS in the weeks leading up to the event that may help understand the correct procedures to handle EFFORT & RARE BIRD ID. EBIRD APP Be sure to include the appropriate effort data and create multiple lists based on transportation type and areas. Make notes of READ the Tips document under CBC DOCUMENTS. MERLIN BIRD ID APP This app has become popular with many birders possessing one. Use it as a tool to ID, not a tool to find birds. We are not going to approve an unusual bird report if identification was based solely on the identification made by Merlin. READ the Tips document under CBC DOCUMENTS. AREA NOTES Unit areas are on Refuge Property and the roads require a high clearance vehicle to access. The FWS will no longer allow government vehicle use. We need leaders that are familiar with the routes. The Visitor Center has multiple feeder stations. Coverage can be separated from the trails if needed. Cactus Creek has feeders and trails. Mary Jo will manage both for the CCR team. Adolph Thomae Jr County Park is included in Area Arroyo. You will need the proper credentials from Ranger Georgie Garcia for access without fee.
