Join the Friends for a 14-mile guided bike ride at the Bahia Grande with Mark Salvatore.

The Bahia Grande is a beautiful and restored wetland that is home to many fish, birds, and other wildlife. You can learn more about its history and ecology  in the latest Richard Moore Outdoor report .

The bike ride will be a great opportunity to enjoy the scenery and spot some amazing animals. You might see deer, nilgai, pelicans, herons, egrets, ducks, geese, hawks, falcons, and more.

It will be on caliche road and a slow pace for wildlife watching. Please be prepared to physically bike that distance. Please bring a tire repair kit and plenty of water. Unfortunately, there are not any restroom facilities on this route, so please plan accordingly.

The bike ride will start from the red gate on Hwy 48 marking the entrance of the Bahia Grande Unit of Laguna Atascosa. It will then run all the way to the other entrance gate to the Bahia Grande Unit, which is off of Hwy 100.

I suggest you arrive at least 15 minutes before the scheduled time to check your bike and gear. You should also wear comfortable clothing, sunscreen, sunglasses, and a hat. Don’t forget to bring your camera, binoculars, snacks, and plenty of water.

We hope you have a wonderful time at the bike ride and enjoy the Bahia Grande. Please share your photos and experiences with us. I would love to see them!  You can reply to this email or post to put social media.
